About Frank Hyer
Frank Hyer grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He was a skinny kid with a pencil behind his ear who spent most of his time mucking around in ponds, bogs and marshes. As a boy, drawing was an easy way to tell stories and to make people laugh. He studied Psychology at the University of New Hampshire, Architecture at the Boston Architectural Center and he spent much of his adult life designing custom homes and furniture… but always drawing!
By 2017 he was making art full time at Studio A100 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. And by 2018, he’d had his first solo show at the Todd Bonita Gallery.
There’s an implied narrative present through much of the work. Often inspired by adventures on or near the water, shared with close friends, and family. These are thoughtful compositions employing deep shifts in value and tonality. And they are executed with the skilled hand of a draftsman.
Frank’s work is available directly from Studio A100, and is further represented by the Todd Bonita Gallery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
